21 years in the making, the International Rosetta Mission was approved in ESA's Horizons 2000 Science Programme as a Cornerstone Mission in November 1993. Nearly 11 years later, the ESA's Rossetta spacecraft lifted off aboard a European Ariane 5 rocket from Kourou in French Guiana in 2004. On August 6th 2014, Comet Chaser became Comet Catcher, when Rosetta successfully rendezvoused with Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko after a 10 year journey of over 800 million miles(more than five times Earth’s distance from the Sun).
Almost immediately, Rosetta started sending back closeup highly detailed photos of Comet 67P. Soon after, space enthusiasts began to see strange and interesting anamolies. But what is strange for a comet? Its hard to say because Rosetta is a historic mission and its images of Comet 67P are the closest, most detailed shots of a comet the world has ever seen. In fact, the Rosetta mission has and will achieve many historic firsts.
- Rosetta is the first spacecraft to orbit a comet’s nucleus.
- It is the first spacecraft to fly alongside a comet as it heads towards the inner Solar System.
- Rosetta is the first spacecraft to examine from close proximity how a frozen comet is transformed by the warmth of the Sun.
- Shortly after its arrival at Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, the Rosetta orbiter despatched a robotic lander for the first controlled touchdown on a comet nucleus.
- The Rosetta lander’s instruments have obtained the first images from a comet’s surface and have made the first in situ analysis to find out what it is made of.
- Rosetta will be the first spacecraft ever to fly close to Jupiter’s orbit using solar cells as its main power source.
- ESA
So what is the official purpose or mission of the Rosseta spacecraft? According to the ESA it is the following:
Scientists will be eagerly waiting to compare Rosetta’s results with previous studies by ESA’s Giotto spacecraft and by ground-based observatories. These have shown that comets contain complex organic molecules - compounds that are rich in carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen.
Intriguingly, these are the elements which make up nucleic acids and amino acids, the essential ingredients for life as we know it. Did life on Earth begin with the help of comet seeding? Rosetta may help us to find the answer to this fundamental question. - ESA
Some theorists have asked, is this really why we went to the comet though?
Scott Waring of UFO Sightings Daily posted an article on September 29th, 2014 titled "NASA Records Radio Signals Coming From Comet 67P For Over 20 Years! Sept 2014 UFO Sighting News." In this article, Waring claims that Comet 67P is not a comet at all and NASA has known that it is broadcasting a radio signal for over 20 years now. He sights an anonymous email from an ESA whistle blower which can be seen here. There are not very many details offered about the email, and the anonymous email also states that certain unaltered photographs of Comet 67P have been provided. These unaltered photographs are not provided in the article posted on September 29th by Scott, Waring. CivRadio has contacted Scott Waring and asked for more detailed information on this whistleblower email including the email header information and the so called unaltered photographs. Another claim in the anonymous email is the following:
“Do not think for ONE MOMENT that a space agency would suddenly decide to spend billions of dollars to build and send a spacecraft on a 12-year journey to simply take some close-up images of a randomly picked out comet floating in space.”
While the claims by Scott Waring seem outlandish at first glance, two components of the story are actually true.
First, the comet is indeed transmitting some kind of signal which has been confirmed on the ESA's own live streaming site in a post on November 11th, 2014 titled "Hear our comet sing".
Rosetta’s Plasma Consortium (RPC) has uncovered a mysterious ‘song’ that Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is singing into space. The comet seems to be emitting a ‘song’ in the form of oscillations in the magnetic field in the comet’s environment. It is being sung at 40-50 millihertz, far below human hearing. To make the music audible to the human ear, the frequencies have been increased in this recording: https://soundcloud.com/esaops/a-singing-comet - ESA Live Stream
Second, the Rosetta project did begin over 20 years ago and the cost of the project is well over a billion dollars.
The total mission cost of Rosetta is close to 1.4 billion Euros of which the total Philae costs are 220 Million Euros (in 2014 economic conditions) including expenses for the one year launch delay. The mission cost covers development and construction of the spacecraft and all of its instruments, including the lander, together with launch and operations. - ESA FAQ
And also an interesting side note is that Scott Waring's article was published over a month before the ESA's post about the comet song.
But, what about the strange anomalies in the images coming back from Rosetta's NavCam.
Lets take a look at the following image of Comet 67P titled "Comet on 10 September 2014 – NavCam"
This image was released by the ESA on September 11th 2014 and is the image that supposedly contains a UFO hovering above the surface casting a shadow below.

While the September 10th image is interesting, it is my opinion that its not a UFO hovering above the surface of the comet. That said, the apparent bright disk from the September 10th image is no doubt a curious object. It was either an image artifact of some kind or something very reflective on the surface of the comet. I don't think its a UFO because two other images of the same UFO region show a surface feature in that same location casting a shadow. Those images are "Comet on 14 September 2014" and "Comet on 12 September (a)" and can be seen below.

Here is a youtube video posted by user "seeingathruth" that highlights other various anomalies being seen in the September 10th image of Comet 67P

Even Richard C. Hoagland has chimed in on the Rosetta debate and states that Comet 67P is no comet, but rather an ancient alien spacecraft. Fast forward the below video to 17:00 minutes to cut to the chase.

So, there you have it, a little bit of background on what's been going on with the Rosetta mission. Now lets move on to Comet Henge. CivRadio has chosen a few images of its own to look at for anomalies, the first of which is "Comet on 19 September 2014 – NavCam" seen below:

As we zoom into the middle of this image, we start to see some curious arrangements of rocks or objects which CivRadio is calling Comet Henge or Comethenge.
Comet Henge - Comet on 19 September 2014 – NavCam - ESA
The most obvious is the triangular arrangment of three objects that stick out like sore thumbs and appear to be much more reflective than the surrounding landscape. Also to the right of this triangular arrangement is another circular grouping of objects which looks something like a crude fire pit. See the close-up image below.

Lower in the image you see another highly reflective object surrounded by 3 smaller objects in a semi-circular pattern

Another curious stone monolith can be seen if we pan far to the right of the image from September 19th.

These same anomalies can also be seen in another similar ESA image titled "Comet on 20 November - NavCam". Also, here is the triangular arrangment of stones from another angle seen in the ESA image titled "NAVCAM top 10 at 10 km – 8"
triangular arrangement of objects - "NAVCAM top 10 at 10 km – 8" - ESA - click for full image
In this angle above, the objects appear to look more like boulders, yet they still seem to be very reflective compared to their surroundings.
So what does this all mean? Now, CivRadio is not suggesting little green Pagans are making stone structures on Comet 67P, but we are merely pointing out eye catching anomalies that we feel warrant further investigation. If Comet 67P is more than just a comet as many claim, than perhaps the anomalies we are seeing are signs of an underlying structure. Or, maybe they are just shiny dirty little iceball rocks! It would be nice if we had the actual raw images instead of these compressed jpegs that the ESA is posting. Take a look for yourself and see what you see.
If you want to watch the official story of Rosetta, then here is a decent National Geographic Documentary called Comet Catcher. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9M177tkoEU
